Secretary of the Army urges support for requests under review.
U.S. Army Secretary Christine Wormuth said that it is up to Congress to approve the funding necessary for the Pentagon to support both Ukraine and Israel simultaneously. President Biden’s administration can reallocate already existing weapons stockpiles to send some munitions along in the short term but additional funding must be approved by Congress in order to commission new weapons for each country’s defense.
Secretary Wormuth said, “One thing that is really important in terms of the munitions in particular and our ability to support both potentially the Israelis and the Ukrainians simultaneously is additional funding from Congress to be able to increase our capacity, in terms of our capacity to expand production and then to also pay for the munitions themselves.”
She stated, “We need additional support from Congress. So I hope we’ll see that soon.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For representatives in the House as they determine who to support for speakership.
- For Secretary Wormuth to seek God’s guidance as she heads the U.S. Army.
- For leaders in the Pentagon as they divert military aid to Israel.
